This is my third NMD body board I purchased from 662 bodyboard shop. Plus I have another 3 more NMD bodyboard in which I previously purchased from other sources. I got so disappointed with this brand new board that I just purchased from 662 bodyboard three weeks ago. The quality and craftsmanship of this board is totally inferior to the previous the same models. The cheaply stenciled/painted emblem and logos on the board are already peeling after just 4th times using it. The nose bulbs or bull grips are so small that hardly you can even grip and or feel it. That the same applies to the side rails grip. My beloved 8 years old NMD ISS 42" Jase Finlay and 3 years old 40" WiFly currently still ripping! As well as the rest of my older NMD bodyboards. So regardless, I don't see myself using any other brand bodyboards other than NMD!!
662 is an excellent shop to get the best equipment at a reasonable price. They were able to interpret my riding style into the best recommendation for this board. It performs at a top notch level and accelerates to get me in the best position on the wave. Great purchase and superior customer service.
Went in to shop yesterday and bought this board...I am former pro surfer and have been nursing a torn rotator cuff thanks to BJJ...can't paddle so I have no choice but to sponge and I have to admit I had a blast!!! ...surfed this limited access beach break and I got so barrel with this board...it's perfect ...heaps of speed and control...can't wait for south swell season so I can score more makeable barrels!!! Super stoked...Thank you Alex for getting me dialed into the sickest bodyboard...!!!
So, I've been riding the Player template with a crescent tail since the first generation of PFS/quad concave first came out. That set up goes so well that I haven't had any desire to change things up, but I've been hearing good things about the WiFly and I was due for a fresh board so I figured I'd give it a shot; and I'm glad that I did!
I finally got to try the board out in some solid waves yesterday on the North Shore and this thing feels amazing! My main concern with switching to the WiFly was that it wasn't going to scoop or hold the high line through the pocket as well as a crescent, but that's definitely not the case! To me, it feels like it's got all the hold and drive of the BP/crescent, but with a little more lift in the tail which helps it to generate even more speed.
I've been a bit skeptical of the benefits of this tail design but after finally trying it out, I'm sold. That being said, I think it's definitely important to note that this board, and the BP template in general, wants to be ridden like you mean it and really excels in powerful waves. It's very drivey and, in my opinion, responds best to a committed, aggressive riding style. Sure, you can ride it well in burgery conditions but that's not really where it shines.
At this price point, I was a bit apprehensive to try something new, but if this sounds like your riding style and the kind of waves you typically ride, you won't be disappointed with this purchase.
Also important to note, I'm coming from a 40.5/crescent and the 41.5/WiFly feels great.
Hope this helps someone! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
